Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (BAMU), formerly Marathwada University, is located in Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Republic of India. It is named after Bharat Ratna “Babasaheb” Ambedkar, an Indian jurist, political leader, academic, and the chief architect of the Indian Constitution. This university was established primarily on the initiative of Babasaheb Ambedkar to fill the huge lacuna of higher education facilities in the western Vidarbha, Marathwada, and North Maharashtra regions. The university was established on August 23, 1958.
This university has contributed to the progress of adjoining regions and people in innumerable ways. Since its inception, the university has had around 428 colleges affiliated with it, which come under four districts (Aurangabad, Jalna, Beed, and Osmanabad) of Maharashtra State. The student population exceeds 4,44,336.

The Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad is University offering various programmes through Regular Mode education. In its regular mode, the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad conducts Under-Graduate, Post-Graduate, M.Phil., Ph.D. as well as Diploma and Certificate courses. The University caters to the interests of students from all communities, and aims to meet the particular needs of the disadvantaged sections of nearby Marathwada Region. It is constantly learning from its history to negotiate the new and emerging challenges facing the nation in the twenty-first century.

The Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad is launching the Centre for Online Learning, to provide opportunities for higher education to those who otherwise are not able to draw benefits from the conventional systems of education.

The Open Learning System allows a learner to determine her/his place of learning and provides education at her/his doorstep. The mode of transaction is through self-learning print material, supplemented by audio and video programmes besides face-to-face counselling sessions and contact programmes. Efforts are presently on to arrange Self Learning Material (SLM) online.

The COE has been started functioning from the year 2022 – 2023. The COE offers online MBA and MCA courses. The course materials are supplied to the students well in advance.
